Mapusa, July 9: A chilling case of revenge-fuelled murder has come to light in Parra, where a father-son duo brutally killed their roommate following a prior altercation. The accused, identified as Satya Nabarabgpuria and his son Thabir, have been booked by Mapusa Police after they allegedly murdered 37-year-old Daropada Naik inside a makeshift accommodation at a construction site.
According to police, the motive behind the murder traces back to an argument the previous day. On Sunday, the deceased had reportedly assaulted Satya near the Mapusa bus stand, an incident that later triggered a chain of violent events. After informing his son Thabir about the assault, the duo allegedly plotted revenge.
The three men — the victim and the two accused — were residing at a temporary shade provided by the villa owner at the construction site where they worked. On Monday evening, while consuming alcohol together, a heated argument broke out between Thabir and Daropada over the previous day’s incident. In a fit of rage, the father-son duo attempted to strangulate Daropada with a waist belt, but the victim resisted.
Thabir then reportedly picked up an iron crowbar from inside the room and struck Daropada multiple times on the head. As the victim lay injured and bleeding, Satya took a knife, stabbed him in the stomach, and gruesomely mutilated his private parts, police said.
The horrifying crime was discovered when the site supervisor, who had come to check on the workers, found Daropada lying in a pool of blood. By then, both accused had fled the scene and were later found hiding in a nearby field.
Police have also confirmed that both accused have a criminal past, with an FIR for a body offence registered against them at Golamunda Police Station in Odisha in 2020.
Further investigation is underway to establish the full sequence of events and any additional motive behind the brutal killing. The accused are currently in police custody and will be produced before the court.
