Panaji, July 11:
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Friday inaugurated the new office premises of the Directorate of Prosecution at Patto, Panaji. The event marks a significant milestone in strengthening Goa’s judicial and legal infrastructure.
Present on the occasion were Advocate General Devidas Pangam, Chief Secretary Dr. V. Candavelou (IAS), Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajay Sharma (IPS), Director of Prosecution Poonam Bharne, and other senior officials and legal dignitaries.
In his address, Chief Minister Sawant emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency and professionalism of the state’s legal apparatus. “A robust prosecution system is essential for timely justice delivery. The new facility will provide a better working environment for our legal officers,” he stated.
Highlighting the state’s move towards digital governance, the Chief Minister also distributed laptops to public prosecutors during the function. This step, he said, is aimed at equipping prosecutors with modern tools to support e-litigation and efficient case management.
Director of Prosecution Poonam Bharne expressed gratitude to the government for its continued support and called the new office a major upgrade that will improve the department’s operational capabilities.
The inauguration reflects the state government’s ongoing efforts to modernize judicial support systems and promote a more responsive justice delivery mechanism in Goa.
