Panaji, July 17:
Goa has witnessed a remarkable surge in digital payments, clocking an average of ₹162 crore daily through UPI platforms like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, and BHIM during the April to June 2025 quarter, according to data released by the Union Finance Ministry.
The cumulative value of UPI transactions in the state stood at ₹14,754 crore for the three-month period, with May leading as the highest month at ₹5,659 crore. A total of 10.5 crore transactions were recorded during this time, translating to an average of 11.53 lakh transactions per day.
Despite its relatively smaller population, Goa ranked 23rd in the country in terms of transaction volume. Maharashtra led the nation with a staggering ₹7.87 lakh crore in UPI payments, followed by Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh.
Among Union Territories, Delhi emerged as the leader, registering ₹1.90 lakh crore in UPI transaction value.
The steady rise in digital payments underscores Goa’s growing adoption of cashless transactions and the widespread penetration of UPI services even in semi-urban and rural pockets.
Financial experts say that the increasing preference for contactless and real-time payments reflects a larger national trend toward digital financial inclusion and transparency.
