Vibrant celebration unites the Goan diaspora with music, culture, and cuisine
SWINDON: The Goan Swindon Association brought a slice of Goa to the UK with its much-anticipated Goan Summer Festival 2025, held on July 12. The festival, a grand celebration of Goan culture and community spirit, drew hundreds of attendees from across the UK.
The event began with a solemn mass celebrated by Auxiliary Bishop Rev. Simiao Purificação Fernandes, setting a spiritual tone for the festivities. Singer Veena Pegado captivated the crowd with a soulful opening performance, followed by high-energy sets by well-known Goan bands NH17 and Injunction, who kept the crowd dancing throughout the day.
Beyond the music, the festival showcased vibrant cultural performances, traditional dances, and stalls serving authentic Goan cuisine, bringing the sights, sounds, and tastes of Goa to Swindon.
Organisers said the event aimed to unite Goans living abroad and keep their rich heritage alive. “It’s about staying connected to our roots and sharing our beautiful culture with the next generation,” a committee member said.
The Goan Summer Festival has become a highlight for the UK Goan community, and this year’s edition once again proved to be a resounding success.
