Nuvem, Goa: A shocking incident on the Nuvem-Manora route has triggered public outrage after a Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) bus, bearing registration GA-03 X 0276, broke down mid-route and students were reportedly forced to push the vehicle.
Eyewitnesses stated that nearly 10 to 15 students, who were onboard the school-route bus, were made to help move the broken-down vehicle under the direction of the driver, raising serious questions about student safety and the state of public transport infrastructure.
The incident has prompted strong reactions from concerned citizens, parents, and local leaders, who have called for immediate disciplinary action against the driver. More importantly, there is a growing demand for a comprehensive safety audit of all KTCL buses—especially those used for ferrying school children.
“The lives of young students were put at risk. This isn’t just a lapse; it’s negligence,” said a local resident.
The public is urging the Transport Department and KTCL to implement strict vehicle maintenance checks, enforce driver accountability, and ensure that no such incident is repeated in the future.
Authorities are expected to take cognizance of the matter, with calls for swift action growing louder across the state.
