Panaji: Animal welfare activist Xencor Polgi has called on the State Government to clarify its policies on stray dog management, seeking answers on the exact number of shelters operating in Goa and the measures in place to feed and care for the animals.
Highlighting rising public concerns, Polgi urged transparency on designated feeding zones, sterilisation drives, and the involvement of local panchayats and NGOs in ensuring humane care. He stressed that effective coordination between authorities and community groups is essential to address the growing stray dog population in a sustainable manner.
With national debates intensifying over animal welfare and urban coexistence, Polgi’s remarks have reignited discussions on strengthening Goa’s shelter infrastructure and long-term policies for stray dog management.
