Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) leader and Minister Sudin Dhavalikar has confirmed that the ruling alliance, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its partners, will jointly contest the upcoming Zilla Panchayat (ZP) elections in Goa.
Speaking to the media, Dhavalikar emphasized the need for a united approach and coordination among alliance partners ahead of the polls. “We are alliance partners of the BJP and will soon hold a joint meeting to finalize our strategy for the ZP elections,” he said.
Reflecting on the political legacy of former Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar, Dhavalikar said, “Parrikar brought major changes to Goan politics and transformed its entire landscape. His leadership laid the foundation for the strong alliance we see today.”
The minister added that the alliance remains strong and is focused on grassroots development, which is at the core of the Zilla Panchayat elections. He reiterated that the upcoming polls will be a key moment for the alliance to showcase its unity and governance record at the local level.
The Election Commission is expected to announce the dates for the ZP elections soon, and political activity is already picking up pace across both districts.
