Mandrem Police have arrested two individuals for organizing an illegal bullfight for the purpose of betting at Khalchawada, Arambol, in a swift action following a public complaint.
The accused have been identified as Devaraja Biradar (32) and Basavaraj Valikar (28), who were allegedly involved in organizing the event in violation of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. The illegal bullfight reportedly attracted onlookers and was being used as a platform for unlawful betting activities.
An FIR was promptly registered by Mandrem Police, who initiated legal proceedings and took the duo into custody. Both accused were later released on bail, while the investigation into the broader network involved in the event is currently underway.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to enforcing animal protection laws and curbing illegal activities such as bullfighting, which remain banned under Indian law.
Police have appealed to the public to report any such incidents to ensure strict action against violators and protection of animal rights.
