Panaji – The decision to not allot ministerial positions to first-time MLAs was part of an established practice during the leadership of veteran politician Pandurang Raut, revealed Pratap Fadte, Executive President of the party’s district unit.
Addressing the media in the presence of several panchayat members, sarpanchas, and party supporters, Fadte clarified that the policy was not targeted at any individual but was a precedent followed over the years. “Even senior leaders like Sudin Dhavalikar and Deepak Pauskar were not given ministerial berths when they were first elected. It has been a consistent stand of the party leadership,” he stated.
Fadte was responding to growing speculation and questions raised over why newly elected MLAs were not being considered for cabinet roles. He reiterated that experience and proven legislative performance were key factors in such decisions.
The clarification comes amid discussions within political circles and among grassroots-level party workers about representation and leadership roles for first-time legislators.
Supporters present at the press conference backed the leadership’s stand, affirming their faith in the party’s long-standing principles and decision-making framework.
