Panaji, July 19:
In a scathing attack on the state government, Goa Forward Party (GFP) President Vijai Sardesai has alleged a total collapse of the administration and a steep rise in corruption, claiming that “nothing moves without money” in the current system.
Addressing a press conference, Sardesai accused the government of attempting to pre-empt the upcoming Assembly session by suddenly becoming proactive on several long-neglected issues. “This last-minute rush is not governance — it’s damage control,” he said.
He also alleged a major scam in the rent-a-car scheme, demanding the immediate sacking of the concerned Minister. “There are irregularities and clear signs of manipulation. The rent-a-car scheme is being misused for personal gain,” Sardesai charged.
The Fatorda MLA further claimed that bureaucratic inefficiency and political interference have paralyzed government functioning. “The administration has collapsed. Corruption is rampant, and people are forced to pay bribes for basic services,” he stated.
Sardesai called on the public to remain vigilant and urged the Opposition to hold the government accountable during the upcoming Assembly session. “We will raise every issue — from scams to systemic failures — and demand transparency and accountability,” he added.
The GFP leader’s remarks have intensified political tensions ahead of the monsoon session, with observers expecting a stormy debate in the House.
