Panaji, July 25:
Goa State Hajj Committee Chairman Urfan Mulla strongly condemned the recent remarks made by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar regarding the Mahadayi river dispute. In a sharp rebuttal, Mulla said Shivakumar’s frustration stems from not being able to become Chief Minister, which is now leading him to make “cheap and irresponsible statements.”
Mulla came out in strong support of Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, praising him as a dedicated leader who will “fight to save the Mahadayi river till his last breath.” He affirmed that the people of Goa stand behind Dr. Sawant in protecting the state’s water rights.
He also criticized the Congress party, alleging that it does not place faith in the judicial process. “Despite the matter being sub judice in the Supreme Court, Congress leaders continue to make provocative statements, showing complete disregard for the law,” Mulla stated.
The Mahadayi water dispute between Goa and Karnataka remains a sensitive and critical issue, with political leaders from both states continuing to voice strong opinions on the matter.
