Korgao (Pernem): Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar on Sunday visited the Ganesh Chitrashala of Umesh Chari Raju Brave at Korgao, where he handed over a clay machine to encourage the making of eco-friendly Ganesh idols.
During the visit, Arlekar appealed to the public to refrain from using Plaster of Paris (PoP) idols, stressing the need to safeguard the environment and preserve traditional practices. He assured that measures are being taken to completely stop the use of PoP idols in the State.
The MLA further cautioned that strict action would be initiated against those found bringing or selling PoP idols, while urging artisans and devotees to adopt clay idols as a sustainable alternative.
