Panaji, July 11:
Renowned Goan pop icon Remo Fernandes has announced the cancellation of his much-anticipated performance at the UK Goan Festival, scheduled to be held in London on August 3. The decision follows medical advice after the artist sustained a serious head injury during a fall in Spain last month.
Doctors have diagnosed the 70-year-old musician with internal cranial bleeding, necessitating urgent surgical intervention. The surgery is scheduled to take place on July 16.
In a heartfelt message to his fans and well-wishers, Remo expressed deep regret over the cancellation, stating, “I was truly looking forward to performing at the UK Goan Festival and reconnecting with my fans in London. However, my health must come first.”
The UK Goan Festival organizers and fans have extended their support and sent wishes for his speedy recovery. Remo, known for hits like Maria Pitache and O Meri Munni, has been a trailblazer in blending Goan music with global sounds and continues to inspire generations of musicians.
As the music fraternity and fans around the world pray for his successful surgery and quick recovery, hopes remain high that the legendary artist will return to the stage soon, stronger than ever.
