Panaji: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant distributed financial assistance cheques to 46 State Sports Associations and 123 Clubs from across Goa, during a special ceremony held at Mantralaya. The event, attended by Vasco MLA Sankalp Amonkar and other dignitaries, marks a significant step toward building a stronger and more inclusive sporting ecosystem in the state.
Speaking at the occasion, CM Sawant emphasized the government’s renewed focus on Olympic disciplines and rural sports development. “These grants reaffirm our commitment to building a sports culture that is inclusive, competitive, and well-supported,” he said.
The financial assistance is aimed at strengthening grassroots sports by supporting training centers, hiring qualified coaches, organizing local and state-level tournaments, and integrating rural talent into the mainstream. CM Sawant noted that the government’s mission is not only to produce champions but also to create a generation that is healthy, disciplined, and inspired through sports.
“With 46 State Associations and 123 active Clubs, our aim is to empower athletes and nurture talent in every corner of Goa. Let us reach every child, every village, every school—and inspire them to embrace sports as a way of life,” he added.
The initiative has been widely welcomed by the sporting community, as it is expected to enhance infrastructure, boost morale among young athletes, and foster a vibrant sports culture across the state.
