Panaji, July 18:
In a landmark step towards promoting clean energy and sustainable tourism, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant inaugurated Goa’s first private solar-powered cruise boat, M.V. LRAJ GREEN Solution, at a grand ceremony attended by Union Minister Shripad Naik, Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade, NRI Commissioner Narendra Sawaikar, and other dignitaries.
Built entirely in Goa, the indigenously designed vessel is 100% solar-powered, emission-free, and noise-free, offering an eco-friendly alternative for water transport and tourism. Operated by Goa Solar Power House, the boat is equipped with advanced digital features and smart safety systems, making it not only green but also technologically modern.
Speaking at the launch, CM Sawant hailed the project as a “major milestone in Goa’s journey towards clean energy, eco-tourism, and marine innovation.” He praised the private sector’s growing involvement in green initiatives and called the vessel a “model for sustainable tourism.”
“This project highlights the synergy between technology, sustainability, and tourism. It is a reflection of our Government’s vision for a Swayampurna Goa and a Viksit Bharat 2047,” the Chief Minister added.
The M.V. LRAJ GREEN Solution is expected to boost eco-tourism in Goa, encouraging more private players to invest in green innovations and setting a precedent for future marine projects powered by renewable energy.
