Panaji, July 9:
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has issued a clear message that Food and Drug Administration (FDA) inspections across Goa will intensify in the coming days, with a strong emphasis on public health, hygiene, and safety compliance.
Speaking to the media, Minister Rane stated that he has given full liberty to the FDA Director and his team to conduct checks wherever necessary. “FDA officers are doing commendable work. Our intention is not to harass anyone, but to ensure that safety guidelines and hygiene standards are strictly followed,” he said.
Rane highlighted that the rising number of FDA raids is a proactive measure aimed at safeguarding the health of Goans. “We want to make sure that whatever food or products people are consuming meet the safety benchmarks laid out by the FDA. The main focus is the well-being of our citizens,” he added.
The Minister reiterated that the government’s efforts are in the interest of the public and not targeted at any specific group or business. He urged all food establishments, pharmacies, and vendors to cooperate with the FDA and ensure compliance with the required safety and hygiene norms.
Sources in the FDA department confirm that surprise inspections have already been stepped up at various food outlets, pharmaceutical stores, and manufacturing units across the state. Several irregularities were flagged in recent weeks, prompting the department to expand its monitoring operations.
Minister Rane assured that no compromise will be made when it comes to public health and that stringent action will be taken against those found violating norms.
