Siolim, July 18: In a major step towards improving water infrastructure in the Siolim constituency, local MLA Delilah Lobo has announced that the construction of the long-awaited water treatment plant has been successfully completed and is now in its final stage of commissioning.
Speaking to reporters, MLA Lobo stated that samples of the treated water have been sent for laboratory testing to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Once the test results are approved, treated water will be released into the newly laid pipeline network, providing a steady and clean water supply to residents of Assagao and Anjuna.
“This project has been a top priority for our constituency, and I am happy to share that we are now very close to delivering on this commitment. Our people have long struggled with inconsistent and poor-quality water supply, and this plant will mark a major change in that direction,” Lobo said.
The new infrastructure is expected to significantly ease the water shortage issues faced in these areas, especially during peak tourist seasons when demand surges.
Local residents have welcomed the development, expressing hope that the water supply will now be reliable and hygienic. The Public Works Department is closely monitoring the final phase to ensure a smooth rollout once clearance is received.
The initiative forms part of the government’s broader efforts to modernize essential services and strengthen public utilities across Goa.
More updates are expected following the results of the lab testing.
