Panaji, Goa: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar has alleged that the newly announced “₹100-crore political party” is a BJP-backed political project aimed at splitting the secular vote in Goa.
Addressing the media, Chodankar said he had publicly exposed the alleged ₹100-crore operation four days before the official announcement, adding that recent developments have reinforced his concerns.
Rejecting speculation about divisions within the Congress, Chodankar asserted that the party remains united, stronger than ever, and is steadily expanding its support across Goa. He said attempts to spread rumours and create confusion would not weaken the Congress.
The GPCC President accused the BJP of repeatedly encouraging new political outfits whenever it faces anti-incumbency and public dissatisfaction. He claimed the ruling party was trying to divide opposition votes instead of addressing issues such as rising prices, unemployment, law and order concerns, corruption allegations, land controversies, and unfulfilled promises.
Chodankar expressed confidence that the people of Goa are politically aware and will not be misled by what he described as another engineered political experiment. He said Goans are seeking honest governance, accountability, and a government that works in the interests of the people rather than political projects designed to influence election outcomes.
He concluded by stating that the BJP’s alleged “divide-and-rule” strategy would fail because voters have become aware of such tactics and are determined to bring about change.
